We have just been informed that our CML (inspection?), home demostration, and legal completion will all take place on the same day.We are not happy at all about this but is this usual and is there anything we're can do about it?
I think I have the right term for 'CML' it was described to us as an insurance report for our mortage company/solicitors to release their money. The home demonstration would be the first time we will see the house close up and inside, so idealy we wouldn't want to do that on the day of completion.

A home demonstration is a quick walk round where they point at stuff and say "there's your meters, there's the stopcock, here's the booklet for the oven, you've got all the keys .... enjoy ... cya"0

We actually asked for CML and completion on the same day with our new build for this Friday, but we're told it was not possible as our sols need to receive the CML covering letter, which is usually next day and the builders didn't want to risk it not arriving on time, so we are completing after the bank holiday weekend...0

I'm wasn't expecting much but it would be the first opportunity to actually see the house and unless I have an exceptionally good house builder, provide them with a list of faults to repair before we completed/moved in.We actually asked for CML and completion on the same day with our new build for this Friday, but we're told it was not possible as our sols need to receive the CML covering letter, which is usually next day and the builders didn't want to risk it not arriving on time, so we are completing after the bank holiday weekend...
We wouldn't mind having both on the same day as we are really wanting to move in but we won't have seen the house until that that day. congratulations/good luck, I'm not sure what you say to someone moving) house but hopefully everything goes well for you.
My better half has is contacting our solicitors to see if we can do anything.0 -
The snag list / things that need repairing comes after completion. The builders must deal with these issues for 2 years or however long your builder's warrantee period is after completion. This is not something you must do before completion.0
