matter kept private or public

I would like to get started ASAP, BUT I have to ask a very important question. I know that your banking is supposed to be kept confidential, BUT, when reclaiming your charges, can it then become public or is it a matter that also is supposed to stay personal & confidential??? I only ask because my father in law banks at the same bank (he is in very good standards) I don't want to start something that may jepordize him or cause him any embarrasment, but I will be looking at almost $1600 in fees. Please help ASAP!!

Reclaiming your bank charges should have not affect his account.0

Well in my long gone days, we had links called 'connected accounts'- things like businesses and owners' personal accounts, parents and children. Sometimes it worked to the advantage of the *poorer* one because you did not want to offend the valued one. Whether that would be true now I do not know, but then mangers and staff knew their customers. Of course once matters go to hearing in court they are in the public domain0

I suppose my husband and I just would like to keep this matter, if we start, away from his dad's knowing about it. He's helped us out many times financially, and we're trying to get things back on track. Getting back our fees would help, but we don't want to disapoint him any further either.0

You do know that reclaiming fees is a UK, english thing as far as im aware it doesnt apply in the USA (it might do but this is a UK site so advice will be very different)
Since the OP posted in dollars.
I dont think any bank would allow a relative access to your details without your permission, I believe you have some sort of data protection act in the USA like we do.0 -
Its also a Scottish/Welsh/Irish thing you know

I assume that in fact it was an error to use the $ sign rather than the £ sign or perhaps they are using a US keyboard.
In answer to the OP though, this won't be dealt with at branch level but by a department dealing specifically with bank charges and so its unlikely even your branch staff will know.0
