Hi everyone.

After a little bit of advice. I passed my test in Dec 2011. Did my pass plus and got my insurance with coop young drivers. Always paid via direct debit each month on time, always had excellent scores via the box in my car.

My current insurance is £588. I pay £49 per month. I am due to move house in July.

I rang my insurance this morning and asked for a quote for the new address. Its an extra £900 which will cover me until July!

Everywhere else is roughly the same and no lower than £1000.
I've had lots of advice on how to get it cheaper, but I don't want to get in trouble so wanted to ask here.

No insurer will explain why its such a steep increase.

I have 3 children so I need a car, I could downsize but it we had a struggle finding a car that fits 3 car seats.

Any help would be brilliant thanks.

What's the new postcode (first letter or 2 will tell us)? That's possibly the reason.
Oh, and the same (first letter or 2) for your current one, for comparison

If quotes from elsewhere are coming in around the same it must be the postcode.

My old insurer wouldnt touch Manchester/Oldham postcodes at any price.

Don't follow your grandparents advice. Try adding them as named drivers though.

My current postcode is Hu12. The house I'm supposed to be moving to is OL9.

    Thanks.

Are you in a union. If so look on their website. I went to Liverpool Vic (LV) via Unison for car insurance

    Oldham..

Didn't someone or some article call it the insurance fraud capital or uninsured driver capital?

If you have not already commited to that property look elsewhere to see if you can get a better postcode.

I used to live in a certain street then moved literally 50ft across the otherwise of the road, the postcode changed from a 'S' to a 'Z' on the end and my insurer wouldn't carry on the policy, with no real explanation my policy was cancelled from their end and despite my protests I was charged the cancellation fee! It was just one of those things but other insurers seemed fine with it all and was the same price range as before.

It'll be the postcode (I used to live in OL2, about 25 years ago, which isn't a bad area but still tarred with the OL postcode, even then).
Best bet, see if you can garage it
