Has anyone else had the following email from Microsoft? Is it for real? Didn't want to click on the link just in case it was spam.

ACTION REQUIRED: Important Email Verification!

ACTIONREQUIRED!

Dear Email Holder,

New Regulations from Microsoft Corporation and your email host, nowrequire that email account holders must verify their email account information. All unverified email accounts will be classified as "inactive".The contents of the inactive email accounts comprising e-mails and folders willbe permanently deleted, and account terminated.

To ensure your email(s) remain active, click xxxxxxxxxx to perform a one-time automatic verification.

No further action is required after completing the simple verificationprocess. It is however necessary that you repeat this process for all otheremail address(es) you may own.

Thank you.

Of course it's spam. Delete it and anything like it. Never click links in emails...even if they appear to be genuine. Fraudsters are getting better are copying genuine emails and setting up web pages to look exactly like the real emails you may get such as from your bank.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Thanks for your quick response. I had a feeling it was spam. However, our computer is relatively new so have had previous genuine emails from Microsoft.

I think you should remove the link from the first post too, in case an MSE user clicks on it.

Right Click on the email. Go down to "View Message Source". Read carefully until you find the sender's address. Copy it, block it in your browser's Security tab.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

That's a waste of time these days. You rarely get spam from the same address twice.

And did you really mean "browser" when talking about the sender's email address?

A genuine e-mail from a service provider wouldn't be peppered with exclamation marks at every turn....
