Prague or Barcelona Holiday

Hi,

I would appreciate if the experts can point me in the direction for the best price for a 3 or 4 day holiday in Prague or Barcelona. We are 2 adults and 3 children and would appreciate flights around Edinburgh.

Thx for your help

To Prague you can go from Edinburgh with Flyglobespan or Jet2. Barcelona is Flyglobespan or Clickair. I have been to Prague a few times, and it is OK for kids, most places are child friendly (Plenty of McD's if all else fails!), and the best thing is that it is so cheap when you are there. Plenty of Apartments/ Hotels, I normally use HotelsCentral.com, but I know other posters use different sites, so take your pick. If you are near a Metro or tram, being central is not an issue.

thank you. I cant seem to find decent prices. The air line tickets for the next 30/40 days are expensive and so are the hotels. any suggestions for a good hotel?

We used U Sv Jana when we had the kids, two roomed appartment with breakfast was about £80 per night. (Google the name and a heap of websites appear). Checked Hotelscentral.co.uk and that only seems to allow for 4 people, but I'm sure thats not insurmountable, that has the Machova at £66p.n. and that is pretty good and well located. Can't look too far as a lot of Hotel websites are blocked at work.
    Found this for apartments......

Flights are generally pricy in August unfortunately, is Easyjet from Newcastle an option?

We can only get the airports that we can resonably reach from Edinburgh via train. For a short trip it is not practicle for us to spend too long travelling. Thanks for the tips on the hotels.

any cviews on whether prague or barcelona are better with the kids?

I do a fair bit of travelling and have been to both Barcelona and Prague in the past six months.

Barcelona cost me £60 for my return flights, that was with FlyGlobespan flying from Glasgow International - I stayed in a youth hostel though so can't really help with accomodation though. That was in February so prices are probably a bit higher the now as it's holiday season.

My girlfriend and I went to Prague in March, we flew from Newcastle and it cost us £250, that included two return flights to Prague (with Easyjet if I remember correctly) and three nights in a 4-star hotel - she booked it through someone she had seen on Teletext, might be worth keeping an eye out there.

  • I booked a break to Prague through wwwa2b.travel.co.uk last year, might be worth checking out their prices too. My break was really cheap, but it was in March, which is a lot less popular than August!

Barcelona has the beach, so might have a slight edge if you and the kids really like beach type holidays.

barcelona- 22-26 aug= £405 from edinburgh with clickair
    plenty of accomdation options
    www.travelsupermarket.com
but you could also try private rentals like www.ownersdirect.co.uk or www.holiday-rentals.com

i would suggest barcelona as it wont be as hot a prague in august, there is a wider variety of food and acitivites such as beach, aquarium, gardens, football stadium, shopping etc or even a trip to port aventura- 1hr away
