Young couple and WTC

Hello
I wonder if anyone can help. My daughter had a baby in January and lives with her partner. She is currently on Maternity leave and he is the sole earner.
My daughter applied for working tax credit, only to receive the award letter today to say they were not entitled to anything.
Her income is 11K (if working) and his is approximately 24K. I do know there is a threshold for a couple, are they above this? Can anyone advise as to whether they should be entitled to anything?
Thank you very much in advance.

Yes it does. But f she receives SMP, the first £100 a week is ignored for tax credits.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Plus, if, when she returns to work, they have child care costs the thresholds are much higher.

the title of the thread mentions working tax credit.
her partner, on his own, earns too much for wtc.
once baby arrives they will be able to claim child tax credits, and if she returns to work, may get some childcare costs paid by working tax credits
