Hello.
I'm new so apologies in advance if this subject was already covered.
We have installed aluminium bifold doors Dec 2012. Had called the company on numerous occasions about constant drafts. Their engineers came out to try and rectify the issue but with no success. Last visit i was informed that our warranty has been voided as we have alarm fitted on the door frame and therefore have altered the profile. (alarm was installed jan 2013 and bifold door engineers have seen it before but never mentioned anything till now...)
Alarm company argues there is no other place to fit the alarm on to. Bifold doors people saying the alarm company should have checked with them prior to fitting of the alarms.
I am stuck between two companies who are accusing each other, i now have no warranty for the doors incase something happens, facing a potential callout charge plus materials, vat, etc; have no alarm on the doors and will get charged to put the alarm back on....
HELP! sick and tired of big companies just washing their hands off at any sign of a problem and not willing to find solution where customer, for ones, isn't going to end up out of it's pocket.
Any advice appreciated!
Many thanks

Is the door company saying that it is the fitting of the alarm that has caused the issues?0 -
yes. but the draught is coming from other sides where there's no alarm fittings.0

If you are sure that it is not caused by the alarm fitting, you may be covered under the Sales of Goods Act. You would have to get an inspection by an independent expert (maybe a local repairer/specialist) to prove that the fault is not down to misuse or fair wear and tear. If the report confirms this, the retailer must provide a remedy and refund the inspection costs. If they do not, you would follow up with court action.
