Sorry but anything before 11 on a sunday is the crack of dawnWWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
I've seen Iron Maiden at Twickenham and I swear it wasn't as loud as when these people finally rock up in your street.
.
a) I'm jealous and b) that comment made me spit my drink out!
If I were you I'd leave a trick out for them to get excited over before realising it was rubbish - like a 42inch tv box filled with manure! (or you could be really MSE and make your own! :rotfl:)0 -

Check out what's on the back of their trucks. One had 14 perfectly good bicycles (including children's ones). I phoned the police.
Did they do anything?
The ones around here are too scared.0 -

Id just live and let live, as you say, someone is trying to earn a living in these tough economic times.
But that's me, what you do is entirely up to you.
After the case, Councillor Frank Finlay, cabinet member for environment and health, said: “We receive many complaints from people who have had their peace disturbed by this type of noise and we will prosecute those responsible. The complaints are often from nurses, paramedics and fire-fighters who are trying to sleep after shift work – the type of employment where you need to be alert to do the job properly.” In an operation last year, police and the council handed out letters to drivers of scrap metal vans to make them aware of the problem, as well as doing checks to ensure the collectors were properly registered.
Three people were ordered to pay fines and costs by magistrates in Stafford in June for similar offences under noise pollution laws following prosecutions brought by the council.

I don't think so - nothing changed.
Mind you, a police doghandler has moved in round the corner and has a marked police van on the drive. I haven't seen the scrap vans in the past couple of weeks! :rotfl::rotfl:Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
The problem of their numerous visits dropped quite a bit when they had to be paid by the scrap yards by a traceable means, such as cheques or BACS as before it was all cash in hand. But now they seem to be popping up again and my daughter never leaves her pram outside when she visits as they have been known to take them, along with childrens bikes and they have even been into my back garden trying to carry off my garden chairs until the OH spotted them - 'thought you were getting rid of them' is the excuse they gave!0
-
Must say, as above, the dirty thieving ones are a lot worse since the whole traceability thing came into effect with scrap metal.
There's a good chunk of metal by my back gate, a fortnight ago the scrap man knocked at the door and asked if it was scrap. I said no, and to his credit it's still there. Turns out we don't need it now, so he's welcome to it next time I spot him.0 -
I loathe the Rag and Bone men. From his tatty unroadworthy van to his tinkered tat. Where I live they are Gypsies shouting "RAM BONYAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! tootle toot toot too (trumpet noise)" through a loud hailer at the tops of their voices first thing every morning. I would never give them anything as I want them to foxtrot oscar somewhere else.
Its as if they know when I am working lates or nights, as it can be guaranteed whichever time I am sleeping, they are hollering!!
SFG x0 -
Our local rag & bone man just shouts incredibly loudly out the van window. He must need a lot of lozenges! From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

Ours has a bell he hangs out of his window and rings. It catches your attention without being in your face so to speak.
I like the fact that I can put something at the top of the drive and it's gone within 48 hours usually. They've had a tumble drier, washing machine, patio heater, metal frames etc etc.
If they turned up blaring music from a megaphone then not only would I complain immediately but I'd also stop putting the stuff out.Pants0
