DLA during respite?

Hi, I'm going into hospital in a couple of weeks, and DH will be having respite in a specialist Alzheimer's Care Home. I'm receiving some help from SS, but the home of my choice costs double their allowance, so I'll be paying for that.

I'm hoping DH can start this a couple of days before my operation, and stay for 3 weeks afterwards, but as he has deteriorated so much, family are urging me to consider a further month of respite, with a view to permanent care.

He receives DLA at the highest rate for both Mobility and Care. Do the same rules for hospital stays apply to respite, and would I have to inform DWP, if he stays in respite for a further month?

Thank you.

xx
