Shower grout

Hi

I had a new shower put in last year. Recently I have seen that the grout and sealant has started to mould especially in the corners.

Should I re do the whole thing or can I go over it with a reviver pen

I think one of the causes is that the extractor fan above shower is knackered and I need to get it fixed!

Is it normal for it to get that bad in one year?

That does look pretty bad and may need replacing. Try Lakeland Mould Remover Spray - It's great for mould (including on ceilings and walls) and much easier than scrubbing. And you do need to replace/repair the extractor fan and/or open a window otherwise it will keep happening.

Remove old silicone and use a bleach pen or brush in neat bleach with a toothbrush onto grout. Leave until mould has gone then wash off with water. Degrease where you want to re-apply silicone and use something like Forever White which has an antimould ingredient.

Only way is to have re-done ensuring you use a high quality anti mould grout/sealant.
Neat bleach can be a quick short term cleaner - leave it on for a while before rinsing keeping kids away of course.

Beat me to it up there ...

Dry it off with a squeegee, old towel, or one of those Karcher wet vacuums (intended for window cleaning) and the problem won't even occur. Fix the extractor.

The mould grows because of the dampness. Dry it off and the mould won't take hold.

I find the Dettol anti=mould spray works well on grout. However, sealant needs to be removed and replaced with an anti-mould version.

It might be worth keeping a spray bottle filled with 50/50 bleech and spray into the areas prone to mould after each shower. Keep the door of the shower open to dry and spray over with the shower before you use it to wash away any bleech. Repeat after showering.

It might be a little more difficult if that is the shower door.
