Advice Needed Please - Need to sell my car

Despite my username I am in fact female. I was wondering if any of you could recommend a way of selling my car without leaving me wide open to being ripped off?

I have had my Toyota Yaris GS from new in 2001 and in that time it has done 78100 miles, it has a full service history as it has been serviced annually since it was bought new.

I do not want to buy another car so I am not open to part exchanges with garages. I haven't sold a car in over 20 years (the last one being sold to a mate) so I am wary about placing an ad in Thieves Weekly (erm Auto Trader) so I am a bit unsure as to what to do.

Reasonable advice and recommendations would be appreciated. BTW I am in Birmingham.

Thanks.

    Horace the Doris eh? :)

Unfortunately, unless you have someone that can help you deal with the inevitable tyre kickers, then you have to be very careful. Any friends or family members that could help out?

I'd just put a very good advert up on eBay. Plenty of pictures and a good description of the car, service history, MOTs, and start it at 99p.

Done this myself many a time with cheaper cars and i've always been happy with the result.

I said START it at 99p ;) the lower you start it, the more bids it attracts. You can put a reserve on it too, but i never bother :)

2001 yaris wont be worth much to them. Couple of hundred?

Ive had no issues selling cars on ebay with a 99p start. You do get the initial bids from people hoping to win it for £3.75. Their max bid. But genuine buyers will soon be bidding if the advert is right.

One owner / or low number of owners and the fact you have owned it for a long time is a bonus.
Mention that your giving up driving or getting a company vehicle etc. So they know its a genuine reason for sale not because its about to blow up.
