Has anyone had any experience of swapping there current accounts over to the Santander 123 paying 3%, I would like to know if it was a simple process and do they contact everyone i.e. Dept of work and pensions and notify them of new account as well as DD and standing orders etc?

Its very simple they simply upgrade your Current acc for you to the 123 Acc nothing changes they do it all. We did it and it was painless and very simple.
Sorry I'm assuming your Current acc is already with Santandar, if thats not the case then I don't know how simple it would be sorry.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

No its with Lloyds at the moment, just wondering if the current account switch guarantee applies0

They can switch over everything you pay out (DDs/SOs), but you need to contact anyone paying you (salary/pension etc). They do provide a form with sort-code and account number pre-filled for you to post, but often easier to phone up and get it changed.0

but you need to contact anyone paying you (salary/pension etc).
You don't have to do that if you use the full switching service. They will notify the paying party, and will redirect incoming payments to your new account for 13 months.
Having said this, it doesn't do any harm if you notify the paying parties yourself.
You can also move your DDs and SOs yourself, and keep your Lloyds account for future use.0 -
I opened a 123 account last year and moved my direct debits myself. I only moved over those that I will get cash back from. I've been very impressed so far.
And you can get £35 from Topcashback for opening the account.0 -
Hi I am just at the end of the 7 day switching period from Lloyds to Santander. It has gone exceptionally well, better than expected. I was kept informed at every stage what was happening.
All DD/SO and Credits are switched for you, including salary. They have even transferred details of who i make odd payments to ( like next and family) which I thought i would have to set up again. I received passwords for online banking, Visa debit card, PIN numbers all within the timescale. On the 7th day everything transferred and I received an email confirming this.
So so far I am impressed. Haven't been paid yet and no direct debits out but did get a letter from virgin this morning giving details of a change in payment method so I am assuming everything will be fine.
The switch covers 13 months so if there are any payments that get missed they will automatically be bounced to santander.
From my current experience I would recommend it.
