Npower hell!

Hi,

I managed (after a two month hell of ever altering amounts that I owed) to escape npower's clutches - in March 2013. I received a 'final energy bill' on 17/04/13 and duly paid the £4.71 owed.

Imagine my surprise to receive another 'final energy bill' on 10/03/14 - yup, almost one year later - for £236.50. I'd just thought that I was free of them!!

I had had (many) reasons to complain the year before. I left them with an open complaint in case of further problems. I contacted them recently to be told the amount was correct and because I had left the complaint was now closed - but they were willing to offer a goodwill gesture of £25 and set up an extended payment plan.

I asked for time to consider this - how can it take 11 months to issue a final bill (despite a final bill having been issued)?

Do I have to pay? What action can I take from here?

Thank you to anyone who can stop me beating my head against the wall!

what's the reading on the final bill when the account closed?

Does this match the new suppliers reading? If it does you owe it, and you can ask them for compensation if you want too. Ultimately, yes you do have to pay it.

If the reading doesn't match get them to make it match and then when you get that final bill it may be different.
