Surely if PE were to employ real solicitors etc they would soon get told they don't have a leg to stand on anyway.

If they were to use real solicitors to represent them at court they would retain both legs. It is the very fact that, at least some of, their representatives are not solicitors that causes the problem.

One might also justifiably ask the question: Keeping in mind that PE employ a solicitor oughten they to know that they don't have a leg to stand on?
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I would have thought that any solicitor that was any good would not want to be an "in house" one for Parking Eye, it can't have much job satisfaction!

Apparently a certain CEO (also a handy parker) when young always wanted his parents to buy him a cowboy outfit. He never got one, so when he was older he decided to get his own. Instead of going to the fancy dress shop and spending £20 on a new one, he bought a second hand one for £57m. Bargain!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Can anyone please tease out the issues for me ?

I'm aware of the differences between Solicitor, Barrister, and I've even met a "Solicitor Advocate."

In our case, Parking Eye sent a "Miss V****d." She told me at the beginning of the case that Parking Eye were attempting to recover the £170 odd quid plus her "attendance fee."

Am I right in thinking that she wasn't qualified to make that claim ?

    She may have been.

AIUI there is no such thing as a solicitor-advocate.

LPC has some solicitors on their books, but have mostly 'advocates'.

Advocates do not have a right to be there, unless [iirc] they are direct employees of a solicitor and most of LPCs advocates are not [they are self-employed], hence their lack of rights.

You need to see if Miss V is either a solicitor or a barrister or a direct employee of such, then you'll know.

    an unashamed bump to this...

defendants should always question the standing of such advocates,
maybe its the fact that they use the word 'advocate'. please read bargepoles court blogs, and the prankys blogs, then everything will become clear.

the transcript will be ordered in due course, thanks to the proceeds from the aforementioned guides.

btw please don't forget the fax-elf, you know who you are. you may, or may not have had anything to do with this.. I think you did
    (hence the previous earlier reading)

That logic doesn't work though. Hill Dickinson are a proper company of solicitors, active in many fields.

But Hill Dickenson are not an in house solicitors , they are solicitors external to parking eye and are simply paid to write letters, like any other solicitors when paid to do so.
