Please please can anyone help,
I have received a solicitors letter saying
"You have previously been written to by roxburghe uk limited requesting settlement of a parking charge.due to the absence of payment or a valid appeal, our client has instructed us to recover the total amount due to them as shown above £160.
As all other attempts have failed, our client may now instruct is to take legal action in the county court,
To prevent such action, we invite you to call roxburghe immediately on 01932 332048 to confirm your proposals in respect of the parking charge."

I have not had any letter from either pcn or roxburghe and never even knew I had a fine as there was no ticket on my vehicle,

I have since rang roxburghe who provided a time and date, I had know idea about the ticket or supposed letters from pcn and roxburghe which the solitictors claim they both sent and only found out since this letter?

Please can somebody give me some advise I know not to ignore this as the law has changed but do think I'm not guilty of this as I was a customer of the printers ?

Fine? Guilty? You need to get both of those notions out of your head. No private parking company, nor any debt collectors, nor any solicitors can 'fine' you.

    Solicitors - Gladstone per chance?

If you use the forum's search engine and type in Roxburghe Gladstones it will list very recent cases with circumstances almost exactly like yours with advice there that you can follow.

I note you've already phoned Roxy - DO NOT phone anyone, everything should be done in writing.

What was the date of your parking incident?
    Which parking company?

PCN (NW) are a member of the IPC AOS not the BPA and this needs to be handled slightly differently as they tend to claim a contractual charge rather than a breach of contract.

Are you close enough to get a photo of the sign at the car park and could you upload a photo/scan of the document(s) you have received so far? You will need to host on a site such as Photobucket or Tinypic and then paste the link here with the http:// removed.

As a newbie you can't upload pics direct just yet.

Is it worth asking the shop who's property is it to rescind this or have they no power now, as I was a customer

By all means try them (and any other retailers nearby). If the retailer has contracted direct with the PPC they will have the power to cancel. If not contracting with the PPC, try to find from them who the landowner or managing agent is and make contact with them.
