Parking Ticket

Hi All,

I am after a bit of help here.

I received a parking charge notice on the Peel Centre - Stockport for £60 or £100 if paid after 14 days.

I parked up to whilst i waiting to order and take away Nandos, (i parked outside KFC) the letter says i was there for a duration of 36 minutes.

I am very reluctant to pay this as i find it ridiculous that such a large shopping centre charges for parking, I had in my head that it was free for the first hour but apparently not.

Please could anybody advise whether i should ignore this penalty, pay the penalty or appeal it?.

As i am useless at contesting any form of demands i would be really grateful.

Thanks,
Mike

The Newbies thread that waamo has pointed you towards will walk you through the process. Expect to lose your first "soft" appeal to the company and the post back here when you prepare your appeal to POPLA and seek advice before sending it.
The forum boasts 100% success rate on forum assisted appeals to POPLA. And I should know, they won it for me this week.

We have at least one new Peel Centre/Excel thread almost every day of every week. Please use the forum's excellent search engine and type in Peel Excel and you'll be overwhelmed with recent threads. Do read through them as they will contain the action you need to take specific to this car park and this PPC.

    Hi there i have just sent my email and received the following ;

    Dear Sir/Madam

This is an automated response notification regarding your APPEAL/CHALLENGE to a Parking Charge Notice.

Please be advised that we acknowledge receipt of your email, and will be responding directly to you in due course. However, prior to doing so we require the following information in advance to enable us to process your APPEAL/CHALLENGE. If you have not already done so, please forward the following information as a matter of urgency, as we are unable to process your APPEAL/CHALLENGE without it:

    1) The PARKING NOTICE SERIAL NUMBER This can be found in the top right hand corner of the Notice and will be prefixed, SERIAL No. XL/____________.

    2) A FULL POSTAL ADDRESS that we can correspond with, as all decisions are conveyed in a letter to the motorist.

    3) The FULL NAME of the motorist.

If you are unable to locate the PARKING NOTICE SERIAL NUMBER we will require the full vehicle registration number of the vehicle to which the NOTICE was served.

Please be advised that Excel Parking Services Ltd cannot accept any responsibility for any increase in the NOTICE CHARGE should YOU fail to provide us with the requested information within 7 (SEVEN) days from the date of this email.

Please could you confirm if i do actually need to provide my address ?

We could have told you that! In fact it's in most of the threads about this car park/PPC.

They already have your address, otherwise how could they have sent you the NtK? But if it 'helps' them to get this sorted soonest, give them your PCN ref number and the full postal address (again). But do not give any details about 'the motorist', ignore that request - it is a sneaky trap - but make sure they understand you are responding as the REGISTERED KEEPER, not the motorist (nor the driver).

State in your response - the email already sent them is your APPEAL, deal with it as such - cancel PCN or issue a POPLA code within 35 days as per the BPA CoP, failure to comply with this will result in a formal complaint to the BPA and the DVLA.

Answered by Umkomaas. But hopefully you'll have done a search now and read all the other thousand Excel Peel Centre threads and know this is standard. And the NEWBIES thread (which tells you how to appeal and win - and which begs for no new Peel Centre threads for obvious reasons you'll see when you search)!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
