tips for painting bathroom ceiling

hi

our bathroom ceiling has got a bit of mould with windows not being opened regularly over winter and peeling off in couple of places. so looking to re-paint the ceiling. having always lived in rented accomodation earlier i havent done a lot of decorating myself.

would appreciate some tips and help:

1) whats the easiest way to paint the ceiling? is it to get one of those long handed rollers or shorter ones and ladder?

2) whats best way to prevent paint dripping down when painting?

3) are specialist bathroom paints worth it as in do they really provide any additional mould protection?

No advice for you, but just to say we had a similar situation, mouldy ceiling, paint cracked and peeling off (very badly) , though we did and do air our bathroom well. Housing authority got someone in who 're skimmed the ceiling and painted it with anti mould paint. Several months down the line we have no return of mould, but the paint has started cracking off the same way it was before. So, for my money it would be worth doing some research and then getting someone in to fix it properly, because it doesn't seem to be something that will stop/just go away.

We do have a new extractor fan fitted, it was a whole bathroom refit. Not sure what paint he used, but it was specialist stuff, 2coats, no mist coat, it's cracking again, progressively.

first thing is to prepare the peeling paint , scrape it back to it is not flaking and the remaining paint is well stuck to the paster , it may be that it all comes off, it may be a pain to do , but will save having to re do in a ew months time , then fill in where the bare patches are and sand down , then i would paint it with zinsser perma white, 5 yrs gaurantee no mould

No mist coat is the issue

New plaster sucks all moisture out the first coat, we often wet the ceiling first with a damp sponge

I'm not sure the housing association will believe me! Haven't plucked up the courage to report it yet! Thank you.
