Has the buyer opened a case yet? If not check the date of posting , if it is still early ask buyer to wait a few more days and then contact you again. If it should have arrived by now then refund in full via the original PayPal payment.
If a case has been opened all you can do is refund, unfortunately the case being opened triggers a defect which you cannot now over ride.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As far as I know no case has been opened. Item was posted on 29th April and I was told it should take 5 days to get there. Do I need refund postage cost too? Thanks.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260

Depends where they are in Australia. Some remote locations can take weeks to get there. 5 days is horribly optimistic, especially if the item needs to clear customs.
I always ask Australia buyers to wait at least 3 weeks before I consider refunding or replacing.0 -

I agree, 5 days is unrealistic for standard airmail. It should be there by now, but no harm in asking buyer to wait until say Monday and then let you know if it hasn't arrived. Yu really do need to avoid a case being opened though.
If you do end up refunding then the whole of the initial payment must be repaid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Assuming the item was eligible you can claim up to £20 inclusive of p and p
