"Connecting" Outlook to webmail address

Hi all,

I am trying to send some emails to clickable email addresses but my Outlook (that automatically pops up when I click on the email address) has never been set up properly and won't send, because as far as I know it isn't connected to any email address... I do however have a webmail account. Is it possible to use both Outlook and Webmail for the same email address? if so, how? Would appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance :j

Yes you can use both. If you access your online web account it may have a "wizard" to set up Outlook automatically.

chequeout for starters, which browser do you use?
    If its Firexfox then
    1. Open Menu (or is is called Tools?)
    2. select Options
    3. Select Applications
    4. scroll down to mailto
    5. what action is listed to the right? try "use other" and specifiy the path to Outlook which MAY be something like :-
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXY\Outlook.exe or
    C:\Program Files (x64)\Microsoft Office\OfficeMN\Outlook.exe

Hmmm, I've just had a look at Chrome and you can get Chrome to start Gmail (Google Mail) - which is not surprising - but I cannot see how to fire up anything else. I'm sure its possible and I'll have another look.

FYI this is how you configure Chrome to fire up Gmail:-

Go to Settings > Show advanced Settings. Under Privacy click the button for "Content Settings..." Scroll Down to where it says Handlers and make sure that "Allow sites to ask to become default handlers for protocols (recommended)" is checked. Then click "Manage Handlers" to see if mailto is already a protocol. If it is there, what dropdown options do you have?. If not, go to Gmail and look in the address bar for an icon that looks like two overlapping diamonds. Click that and choose "Use Gmail".

EDIT: a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut but you could look at your Outlook mail through Gmail. Yes, I know, horrible.
