HOTMAIL blocked and no support. Grrrrr!!!!!!

So.... Maybe I'm a numpty for not realising when I set up my hotmail account 15 years ago, that as a free account there is no support???

Someone has hacked my account on Monday, I tried the reset links, no joy. I rang Microsoft, sorry you are a free customer we can not help you! So I offered to become a paid customer, but that is not possible!!!!

I have done Internet forms, spoken to representatives all over the world, and still nothing.

I had a week off work to deal with the sale of my parents property, the legalities and accounting of setting up my new business, and to chase up legal actions against people that have ripped me off over a car sale and building works. All the information is on my hotmail, I have not been able to deal with anything.

I am tearing my hair out, but getting nowhere!!! So 2 questions peeps, who are the best email providers for support? And does anyone know any magic tricks re hotmail and Microsoft?
I can become a paid customer on a new account it that will not help me on my existing one, which holds thousands of pounds worth of data.
If someone hacks your account, deletes your folders and changes your security info, linked emails etc, how on earth can you ever get back in, as proving that you are you just isn't enough????

I'm afraid that, to some extent, you get what you pay for.
If you insist on using a "free" account, it is really important to DOWNLOAD your messages onto your computer AND keep backup copies of them elsewhere. If you haven't done this then it's unlikely that you'll be able to access them. Webmail services such as Hotmail, Yahoo!, Googlemail, etc. are ripe targets for hackers.

I use the services of a small company called betterwebspace.com
From memory, it costs something like £25 for two years to have your own "domain name" (such as "www.jovialsam.co.uk") with 100MB of space. That's not a great deal if you receive photos but, provided that you use proper email software that downloads your messages then deletes them from the server, it's not a problem.

If you need help with this, I'd be happy to assist. I am NOT affiliated with this company.

Unfortunately I can't assist with accessing your Hotmail account. Also, from reading other people's experiences, I notice that, in many cases, the hacker has taken great delight in deleting all messages! So they may no longer be there.

I had the same issue on my years old hotmail account recently-complicated by the fact the linked email is now defunct -after a lot of googling I found a link that had a link to a security question........... Couple of months later the same thing happened to my son's hotmail account so it seems something has definitely changed with how hotmail do things recently as neither account was in fact compromised.

If you set up an alternative email to recover your passwords etc, try clicking on the Can’t access your account?' option. Wait until you get an email with your new code and follow the process..
There used to be an option to send your phone number and receive a code via text.
I've not used MS email in a while, so sorry if none of that works.

I have exactly the same problem at the moment.
I've been through the whole process more than once and it won't allow me to change from a defunked email address, keeps saying will send the code to xxx address but it's non existent now.
    Can't find a way round.

Although I am able to still send and receive emails via my phone and tablet, I can not access anything by signing in.
    Totally frustrated by it all.

If anyone finds a way please please post it!!!

Seems pretty obvious sadly that it won't allow a change of email address.
Exactly what a hacker would want to be able to do - change it so that the reset password code to be sent to his email address.

Hotmail wording is very confusing when you attempt to change any security details. If you are signing in and getting a page with heading

"Did you request a security info change?"

Select 'Yes'', click Next and Next again, it should go to you Inbox.

If you select 'No' and click Next, it wants you to verify a defunct email address and then send you a code - not an option.

If first suggestion works, just wait a month or so (as you are only allowed to update your security details every 28 days or so I think) and then try to change your security details to something else - i.e. replace with a valid alternate address.
