Refunds- vouchers, credit notes or cheques ?

Options
Hello,

if I get a refund (for an item that cannot be repaired) from a retailer or its insurance company , can they offer only credit notes, vouchers, gift/replacement cards ? or can I insist on a a cheque for the amount ?
Do I have to accept vouchers, credit notes etc?
Anything in the "Sale of goods act 1979" or other consumer or insurance industry law mentioning what I can be offered ?

John.

Refunds should be made via the same method as payment, or another mutually-agreed method. If this is in relation to faulty goods then you are NOT OBLIGED to accept vouchers or credit notes.

The following link has more info and explains the Law ...

If it's an insurance or warranty claim then you get what's agreed in the T&C's.

If it's faulty goods that come under SOGA then you are entitled to a proper refund.

Due to the doubt about you mentioning an insurance company more info is needed.
  • Excellent replies, thanks for the usefull information,
