My Dubious Attempt at being a Grown-Up

I think I'd have to cancel Christmas alltogether if I had a wedding to plan as well, you're a brave lady  what date is your wedding? I'd have a December one too (if he ever gets round to asking!)0

22nd December!! I suspect OH will think of it as a cancelled christmas too but all it really means is that we will give our christmas presents out at the wedding rather than buying 2 lots for each family member involved in the wedding!!
It is certainly going to be a strange Christmas but I'm still looking forward to the Christmas part, almost still thinking of it as separate to the wedding really!!Debt Free I FFEF I Building Savings I 2025 Plan:- Regular Savings £9,800/£10,000

Got a lot of productive things done this weekend, just not the ones that were on my list. In the interest of transparency, I was shockingly hungover all weekend from Friday night so I'm just happy I got anything done at all!!
Curtain rail is now up, got some cheap temporary curtains up too but will hopefully be replacing those with nicer ones in the next week or so.
Got a large new mirror from Ikea which needs putting up, just rested against a wall for now. Ikea was horribly busy, won't be going again on a Saturday, but thankfully we have one very close so can pop up on a weeknight if we need anything from there.
New towels and bath mats ordered today for the bathroom, we decided the current colour scheme just wasn't working and have cut our losses.
We got loads of stuff to the tip, a big pile of stuff that was just dumped at the back of the garden is now gone, and I got rid of some bulky items (2 large mirrors and a clothes rail) on one of the local facebook freebie sites.
Tomorrow is a colleagues birthday, I'm hoping her present I've ordered arrives with today's post. Need to package that and write her card out later. Also need to phone my DB and find out when to take my SILs birthday present round. It's the bbc good food ultimate chocolate cake, so I need to get some ingredients and make it as well! Our bed needs a change which I'll try and do tonight.
I also want to nip to the pharmacy to pick up some cold and flu medicine. My OH has started with something nasty today, the same day he's started a new job - good timing!
My grandma coming tomorrow so a quick scoot round tomorrow night tidying and cleaning.
And hopefully get a chapter of my textbook studied and under my belt :rotfl:0 -

Thank you Muser, they are little monkeys but they're adorable. They've had their second vaccinations and are booked in for their neutering and microchip mid-November, so will be ready to go out early December.
On one hand, I don't know how they'll last until then, they're already climbing the walls and asking to go outside all the time. On the other, I'm seriously overprotective and paranoid and feel like they're safest in the house for as long as possible.
I'm even going to buy them little kitten harnesses to take them in the garden at first, just to get them used to it. My OH has banned me from having actual children as a result :rotfl: I'd be a nervous wreck!
Have subscribed to your thread, am interested in chipping away at the mortgage too, but probably in a year or two when we've done everything we want to do to the house. I want to get started with the overpaying nice and early into our property-ownership, even if it's just small amounts at first. Will be nice to get some ideas in advance!0 -
Selling a few bulky bits like lampshades, rugs and canvases on Facebook cheap, decided to just put everything up for £1. My boyfriend laughs at me selling decent things for £1 but I just want them out of the house really so I can get more organised. £1 is better than nothing, and it saves me lugging it all to the charity shop otherwise!
So a few of those bits have sold subject to pick up and I'll try and put more up later.
It's a busy one this weekend. I have a Halloween/Housewarming party next Friday and it'll be the first time our friends have seen the house, I want it looking as nice as possible.
The plan for tonight is to stick some music on, open a bottle of wine and paint the hallway, as well as putting some more bits on Facebook. Phone Mum after 7.30pm when it's free.
Plan for tomorrow, drive up to my previous doctors to pick up a prescription. it's about 40 minutes away in good traffic, I really need to get registered somewhere closer to home! I also have an opticians appointment at 2pm, and someone picking up a Facebook sale after 3pm.
Other things that need doing this weekend in between that:
[STRIKE]Wash, dry and iron the bedding from the spare room and make up the bed. Iron bedding for the master bedroom and put to one side to change on Friday.[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Buy bulbs for the living room & hallway.[/STRIKE]
Clean the oven.
Do a tip run.
Clean the bathroom & kitchen.
Sweep and mop through.
[STRIKE]Hoover under the sofa cushions.[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]General getting on top of laundry.[/STRIKE]0
