E.On to pay record £12m mis-selling penalty
Well it's good news for Warm Home customers at least.

E.On will pay around £35 to 333,000 customers who are normally recipients of the Warm Home Discount.
It will also write to around 465,000 customers it has identified itself, informing them of how to get in touch to find out whether they were mis-sold to.

So today they will tell us they are squeaky-clean.
A letter arrived this week for my Father (86y) saying at the end of June his Warm-assist tariff ends ( as expected for some time ) The figures quoted tell him the yearly cost will go from £970 to £1,250
I guess he would not choose to go on the standard tariff at that price but thats what will happen if he does not take any action I guess.
Maybe Malc from Eon can offer me some advice - thats how I found out about Warm-asist in the first place

Hi
Thought I’d pop on with a bit of information following this morning’s news.
To confirm, following Ofgem’s recent investigation, we’ve reviewed the way we sold energy between June 2010 and December 2013.
We were concerned we might have given some of our customers the wrong information when they chose to switch to us. To sort this, we’ll be contacting those customers we believe were affected.
These accounts will be reviewed and, if customers are worse off as a result, we’ll be offering compensation to cover any financial loss.
If anyone switched to us between June 2010 and December 2013 and think they may have been affected, they can also contact us to have their case reviewed.
There’s a dedicated support team dealing with this. Their contact details are on our website under ‘Help and Support.’ The same page has a Compensation Form customers can use if they prefer.
Additionally, there’s a section of FAQs that might help. This includes details of how the compensation has been calculated.
Hope this is of interest.

Hi Mrshorthouse
Our Warm Assist Variable tariff ends on 30 June 14. We're writing to all customers affected to let them know what's happening.
To lessen the impact of this change, we're giving those customers affected a one off payment of £140. This will be credited to accounts this month.
Unless they tell us otherwise, customers on Warm Assist will automatically be put on to our standard tariff, Energy Plan, to cover usage after the change.
There aren't any restrictions or tie-ins with Energy Plan and this leaves customers free to switch tariff/supplier at any time without penalty.
We do have other tariffs available but these are contracted products with certain condition that your father might not like. I'd pop your father's usage in kWh on to one of the comparison sites. This will list all the options open to him both with us and with the other suppliers.
Hope this helps Mrshorthouse. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

Just a quick update Mrshorthouse that I forgot to put in my reply last Friday.
If your father decides to change supplier because of the ending of Warm Assist, we'll keep him on this tariff until the switch goes through. Provided, that is, the new supplier lets us know by 25 July 14 and the switch goes through within 6 weeks.
This option will have been in the letter you mentioned on Friday (usually on page 2).
Sorry I missed this out last week.

Hi pepsimax
Payments are going on to accounts before the end of this month. As such, starting a switch at the end of June won't affect this.
As above, don't forget, if you let us know you're switching by 25 July 14 and the switch goes through within 6 weeks, we'll keep you on Warm Assist prices during the switching period.
Hope this helps pepsimax. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.
