Do Care Parking do court ?

My friend has just had an invoice from Care Parking from the Range in St.Helens - do they do court ? Not sure whether or not to guide her through the appeal - rejection - POPLA route or maybe to get her to pay the £16 and pass the hassle on to whoever it is does the paperwork for her.

Here is the list of those that have done court.

Most recent FOI on PPCs 'doing court'. A bit old now, but most recent AFAIK. No guarantees how a PPC may act in the future, but short of anything else, an indicator.

It would be easy to do herself - just email her the first appeal template (copy & paste it into an email, that's what I just did for a friend as that bit is dead simple). Then tell them to give you a shout when they have a POPLA code or to demand one if they get a silly delaying reply at first.

What's the thinking here? Is it a case of "they don't do court but we might as well force them through the appeals route to cost them money"? An excellent idea if this is the case, but I know some people just can't be bothered with the hassle of it all, and if a certain company rarely, if ever, does court then perhaps an option for them is to ignore? Any thoughts?

    Thanks for the replies...

... yes, I think she would be the type who would say 'I don't want all the hassle and letter writing etc.' but I also don't think it would be a good idea to ignore, especially when it is so easy to get it squashed in the early stages - after all, they have up to six years to pursue don't they and who knows which way things will go in the future?

12 months ago ParkingEye was a 'certain company rarely, if ever does court'. They are now issuing up to 1,000 court papers a week.

Advice is NOT to ignore. It's not to say it won't work, but if anyone does go down that path they need to understand the 'risk and reward' scenario surrounding it. This is not a simple 'put your head under the pillow and the bogeyman won't get you'!

We've pretty much got the appeals' procedure off to a tee and we've got templates and examples for more or less copying and pasting. A couple of hours reading, fine tuning of templates to suit personal circumstances, two letters sent off, job done. Result from POPLA about 5 weeks later, end of story.

Contrast with up to six years delay to finally know that 'ignore' has worked.

Precisely. It's easy to get it knocked on the head and you (and your friend) will get all the support you need right here - as long as you try to read and understand the information yourself first, but it seems like you're already fairly well-informed.

Yes, point taken, and it does cost them money to boot. Nice one. However, it really irks me how the vast majority of people just pay up, and how these parasites are raking in vast amounts of money as a result.

You won't but they are part of the Anchor Group and Anchor Security Services have previously issued proceedings - albeit in only 5 cases
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
