I've got my own domain and pop3 account but I still use a few gmail/googlemail accounts some I've been using a few years now and find them very useful, versatile and easy to use."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Just got my own domain name today through 1&1, I understand it will save me the labourious task of informing "all" when I change my ISP. Also by assigning different email addresses being able to find the culprits who are passing on my details and take the necessary action to stop spam being a nusance.
I'm still not clear in my mind how this all fits together but have an idea, off to log into 1&1 and see "what's what".{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}

Gmail without a doubt due to the extra things it has like Calendar, spreadsheets, basically google Appz!
But its definitely a well supported well made email provider."The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I'm, by no means, an I.T. expert; more of a novice than, I expect, most who use these "Techie..." boards, but I've been astonished at how insecure and amateurish GMail seems.
I have an address which is displayed as something like:
A.B. A.Bxxxx@googlemail.com
Sometimes Gmail displays it as "a.b. A.Bxxxx..." or "A.B. a.bxxxx..." or "a.b. a.bxxxx..." or omits the first full-stops altogether.
When I log-out of GMail, using the top-right link, and then visit the main Google search page, I find my address still displayed. I don't like only being technically logged-out. Others use my P.C. at work and at home and I don't like the lack of privacy.
Maybe some of this is my fault, but I find these basic errors worrying. I'll stick to Hotmail for when I need a webmail address.0 -
Heh they're not errors. All can be configured in options, especially the bit where u log out and it still displays your name.
That is for ease of use with Googles specialised home page which is an amazing feature if you cared to try it ^-^"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I do actually use igoogle as my homepage and find it the most configurable best homepage I've had yet. Quite funny how what I find as useful features seem to be perceived as "faults"."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I think the poster didn't know about igoogle so thought it was a fault
maybe now his/her perceptions will change haha. Its an amazing feature tho. Very easy to view RSS's, calendar, email all in one
