Tesco On Line Groceries

OK, I am a single guy in my 40's - But I am probably far too trusting, or should I say was, as far as Tesco on line shopping is concerned.
Yesterday I received my usual fortnightly shop, not satisfied with the quality of some of the produce I called them to complain and request a refund.
It was at this point I realised some of the charges made were totally wrong - when shopping on-line I generally head directly to the 'offers' section and view the half price products to see if there is anything I require on there . - They didn't charge me half price, they charged full price on 5 out of 7 items I 'purchased' half price. The chap on the other end of the phone was extremely helpful, but did have a laugh when I asked what was going on; "Ah yes, we do have problems often with the system!!"
out of a £63 shop I got back £13. The question is, how many times prior to this have I been ripped off by Tesco? I know I should check everything, but I didn't, I usually check delivery against delivery note and take for granted they have not over charged me, never again.
Then they had the audacity to forward me an e mail explaining how much I had saved with them compared with the other big three!!!
Be warned peeps - check check and check again..

It wasn't taken off at the end? I always check mine and haven't had any problems. (well, apart from the odd date or quality issue).
But you're right, never take it for granted.0 -

You received your order on Wednesday, so could it not just be that the offers had ended before your delivery day?
I think this is the answer OP.
In fact, on the Tesco website it says:The price you pay for groceries ordered online or via our mobile app is the one charged in that store, on the day your order is picked and delivered. The prices on the Grocery website and our mobile app are only guide prices.
I guess your 2 options are to either do your shopping in person, or make sure the offers are still going to be valid on the date you choose for delivery.
The Tesco site seems to be pretty good about showing when it's offers finish so this should help you in future.0 -
Tesco is my default online shop of choice for groceries, but I always check, if ordering on a Tuesday for next day delivery/collection, that any offer price I see isn't ending on the day I'm ordering.
I've only once been overcharged with a Tesco delivery (believe me, I always check) and I just gave the item back straightaway to the delivery guy, and got an immediate refund to my bank account.
I have more problems with being overcharged in supermarkets instore - Morrisons and Sainsbos being the main culprits for me.0 -
As littlebluebird asked, are you sure that the savings weren't stated separately and you're assuming you were overcharged based on the full "item" price? The itemised list does not include many of the savings - these are taken off under the "Total Savings" line at the end. When you're expecting a big saving on an item, it can be a shock to see it listed at full price - even if that's not what you're ultimately paying. This is everybody's fault but mine.0

The receipt usually has the full price shown on the list, and then, right at the end, it has discounts, savings etc.,
Can be confusing.
Had troubles yesterday though, when I ordered a half leg of lamb (only 2 of us), and they pricematched it, and sent, a full leg that serves 12-14 people.......

It could be that the half price offers weren't valid on day of delivery even if they were on day of order.
Alos if you're ordering an item by weight, the price you see online if often an estimate and you can often be sent a much weightier item than expected. I once ordered a roasting joint 750g - 1.5kg - the price showed for 750g but I got a 1.3kg roast, much more than I was expecting.
It's more expensive food wise but Ocado do offers by order date rather than delivery date.0 -
