How much for cat flap in double glazing?

Hi all,
just was wondering how much we should be looking at paying to have a cat flap installed in the pane of double glazed glass in a kitchen door.
I have contacted 3 companies for quotes, but only one has bothered to actually provide one, leaving me nothing to compare it with. The price quoted was £255 + VAT, so £306 (that doesn't include the cat flap itself, obviously).
The pane of glass is roughly 1,90m high and 0,70m-0.80m wide (it's on a new build we're moving into next week, so all I have it a drawing of the unit, which is missing a few measurements).
Does this sound like a fair price?
Any recommendations for companies that do this in the Northampton area, that will bother to respond to sales queries?
Many thanks.

That sounds about right - we had this done (a sureflap microchip pet door which I thoroughly recommend) last summer - they had to take out the existing glass and replace it with a whole new piece of glass - we looked at all the cat flap fitters online bit opted for a local glass shop who did a terrific job.0

Sounds about right - we got several quotes for our French patio door (180h x 35w) and they are ranged between £210 and £230 for replacing a new glass panel and installing the cat flap. I have ordered a sureflap and the additional adapter needed for glass installation however when it arrived it turned out that the adapter dimensions listed on Amazon were incorrect and out glass was narrower by half an inch... I'm sending it back. Now have to research other brands as Sureflap don't have a model that would fit our door....0

If your new build is built by a national house builder like Barratt, Taylor Wimpey, Redrow etc then go into their marketing suite and explain to them what you want and ask if the window supplier can quote. It will more than likely be cheaper even with their mark up and will be a bit quicker as they'll already know the size and spec of the existing sealed unit.
I was a site manager for Barratt and would definitely have sorted this out for you. The sales team will be desperate for a good customer survey after!
If it's not a major builder, it's still worth asking the builder for the company details of the window manufacturers they used.1 -
If the door is double panelled and you don't need the bottom to be glass, it may be cheaper to get a UPVC panel for the bottom and then it is a 5 minute job to fit it yourself.
I would do as Alice says though, they will want to keep you sweet as you could cause them grief with massive snagging lists if they don't play ball with you.0 -
We've just had a new composite door fitted and got them to fit a cat flap before installation, they didn't charge us anything extra to do it - we supplied the flap.
IMO a glass door isn't good from a security point of view.
The company I used would cover Northampton if you're interested.Make £2025 in 2025

hi
It was £60 to fit in a double glazed panel door. We have the old panel to fit again when we move.
We too will be having a cat flap fitted in a double glazed patio door and I'm quite shocked at the price but our sureflap micro chip cat flap is worth its weight in gold so we will pay it.The Cabbage

My cat flap in a double glazed door cost £218 two years ago, I'm with an HA who said they'd have it done but would replace the lower panel with a solid one but I preferred to keep the glass so was happy to pay the full amount.0

Surprised this got dug up, but it's not an issue anymore, my wife decided to leave me and has taken the cats
We were going to split them, one each, as they don't get along that one and one of them, Luna, favors me strongly, but I'm abroad for work right now and have been informed both cats have gone with her and she's keeping them...0
