What speed did he actually report you for? Assuming it was 80-85, do you really think there was a snowball in hell's chance of a speed awareness course?

Interestingly, last time I went on one (5 years back), the chap was telling me that they offer the courses in 2 situations...either when the person's doing a little over the limit....Or when someone's doing *a lot* over the limit. Apparently the second course is rather more intensive (read expensive) and involves driving the instructor around and stuff.

Anyway, I got 3 points and £100 fine through the post today...Apparently I'm in the gap in the middle. Too far gone to be saved by education, it seems.

    Furry muff.

I was thinking for future insurance purposes having a 6pt speeding on there would be less expensive than a ban.

You usually think wrong when it comes to insurance anyway. When in doubt you carry on scaremongering.

Look, if you've got some kind of a cob-on against me, would you be so kind as to just block my posts, instead of constantly making whiney little snipes and digs? Thank you.

It was 50 MPH zone and I was on 80-85 MPH

Then you might benefit from the re-training. You've already pled guilty and any appeal is going to make it worse for you. If you need your license for your job or for providing transport you might be able to make a case for hardship if you lose your license, but it's unlikely.

Since you got through the test 18 months ago, it shouldn't be too much hassle for you to get through it again; it won't have changed much.

An appeal won't make it any worse for him and the guilty plea is no relevant when pleading against sentence. However at that speed 6 points is fair so he'd be wasting his time.
