hey all :) ..... i was going to buy the Reebok Fusion Treadmill from Argos its halfprice £499 down from £999 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3355707/Trail/C%24cip%3D50353.Sports%2Band%2Bleisure%3EC%24cip%3D50406.Home%2Bgym%2Bequipment%3EC%24cip%3D50417.Treadmills.htm

wondered if anyone had bought this machine, or a smilar reekbok, because i can not find any reviews for this model and would like to hear some feedback before i buy it.

I had mine delivered last Tuesday. Had originally opted for the Reebok Irun that Argos were doing on offer, but I cancelled the delivery as soon as the Fusion came up in the sale (an extra £200 but the Fusion offers power incline and more top end).

It's great. The top speed of 16kph is more than quick enough for fast sprinters (my absolute peak for very short bursts is about 13kph), while the incline works great for if you want to firm your leg muscles as well. Set-up out of the box was very minimal, though the thing is heavy (70-odd kilos).

There's also a 'motion detection' function which isn't commented upon in the Argos description - basically you put your hand over a beam on either side to increase or decrease the speed, which is easier than doing it manually on the actual console while you're running.

The one thing that concerned me prior to purchase was noise, being that I live in an apartment with people below me and to both sides. While the treamill isn't exactly whisper quiet it's not that loud - certainly nothing like the noise of say a washing machine (plus if you're running it's likely that you'll have music/tv on anyway). No-one has complained anyway.

It's not cheap even at half the price but I think it's a good buy if you're wanting to get fit. I go to the gym most days anyway, but find that I can do weights in the morning at the gym and a run in the evening at home.

16km/h is 10mph. So your maxing out at 10mph.
Personally i think my purchase was better value, the Roger Black Gold at £350, the only differences between the Reebok and RBG are:

The Roger Black has a smaller surface, being (L)40, (W)120cm compared to the Reeboks (L)45, (W)130cm.

Reeboks has 12 incline levels compared to RBG's 10.

RBG has smaller dimensions when set up, so it wont look as big.

They may have updated the model since i bought mine in Feb, on mine the incline level doesnt appear on screen, you just hold up/down and the incline changes but the changes were not designed to be inputted into the feedback window, so you just set it to what "feels" right.
Both treadmills max at the same speed, and stand the same weight.
About the belt size/running surface. Its always good to have a wider belt, but the dimensions of my treadmill arent narrow so running is uncomfortable. After a few days of use you sort of adapt to it and can run perfectly and never slip up.

I can post pics if you want.

hey all ,,,,,, thanks for your replies,,, hmm this may sound like a silly question, but do you think the running machine would be suitable for someone with size 12 feet? ( thats not my size lol)

    Many Thanks

jambooboo are you sure that the top speed is not 16 miles per hour? 16Kph would not be considered fast for sprinting. I'm fit and active BUT definitely would not class myself as an athlete but I'm also pretty sure I could approach 20mph(40Kph) for short durations. I have not seriously looked into buying a treadmill but if I did I would want to be able to run at full pelt so I would be a little disapointed if these machines are only geared for endurance running.

You would have to go and use the gym machines. For a price below £1000 you wont get much faster than 10mph. It certainly wont be 16mph.

merlinormartin - I'm a size 12 feet and am fine with the treadmill.

thor - it's definitely 16kph. I've been using it on the highest incline doing high intensity interval training swopping between a 6kph walk to a 10kph run, as I'm trying to get fitter while tone my bum and legs.

You wont get a noticeable tone by running. You gotta lift weights.

Course I will - even gentle aerobics will tone!

While it's not going to give me superquads (that is what a squat rack is for), walking fast (especially on an incline where there is more resistance than just your natural body weight) will tone my legs.
