How to get specialised motor insurance

We are currently purchasing a commercial van which is being converted into a motorhome and are really struggling to get insurance.
Only Adrian Flux has offered a quote which was expensive, I have tried various others who can not help.
What is the next best step? Does anybody have experience of this situation?
Many Thanks

Try a local broker ( not swinton)0

Hi Quentin
I have tried one in the area who said they could not help. What is the best way to find a decent broker? Does is have to be a local one, is there a good reason for this?
Really struggling now so would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Here's a few to try..

I've never used any of them as I don't have a campervanbut I know that they are specialists in this area....

Thanks Rudekid48
I have just tried all of the above links, unfortunately they will not cover due to different reasons, one due to value, others due to van which is then converted into motorhome.(cover for motorhomes only)
Many thanks for your time anyway.
This is becoming a real headache

Contact some of the Youtube guys that converted their own vans.
I watched one called RickVanMan. He has his own channel. He has converted several. I recall him saying he had 3 months from buying the van to converting it otherwise his policy would have to end.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
get the V5 changed to camper

will make life easier. A search for "insurance" on the above sites will likely come up with insurers too
try Frank Pickles, NFU, HIC etc0 -
Hi Vaio
It will be a panel van for 7-8 weeks so I cannot insure it as a camper until the conversion has been done. I would be grateful if you know any other way around this.
I will have a look at the links and let you know
Thanks again

I'm pretty sue either Flux or Pickles will give you three months cover whilst the conversion is going on.
Others might too as it will be a common issue in the world of DIY camper conversions0 -
As mentioned, we have only managed to get one quote - Adrian Flux which was quite expensive but looks like we will have to take it.
I will give NFU a try, I think the postcode has a major influencing factor and the value when converted.
I will keep trying, thanks for all your help
I will come back and update should anybody else have the same issue.
Another thought i had is to insure as a van with a specialist van insurer then cancel when conversion is done and insure as a motorhome. Many companies only cover one or the other and the ones that do give you a few months to convert have an issue with the value and the postcode.
thanks again xx0
