Duplicated email account help

My husband is running Windows 8 and using Microsoft Outlook. He has somehow managed to duplicate his account address. The duplicated account ends with the figure 2 in brackets.


When he looks at his accounts there is only one so there is nothing to delete.


I've googled but with no success.


Can anyone help please

Is it causing any issue - i.e. duplicate emails?

Your hubby probably used his email account as login for Windows 8 and configured Microsoft Outlook with the same account. So it appears like two email addresses to you when you really just have one.

Both accounts are receiving emails.

Are you saying the duplicate accounts are in Microsoft Outlook?
What is in Tools->Accounts in Outlook - two accounts or one?

There is only one account shown so there's nothing to delete

Bit confusing, sorry asking questions - but when you say both accounts are receiving emails - is that in Outlook itself?

You can try switching email id login for windows 8 to a local login (i.e. no email account) and see if that affects anything.
