Re PX, the salesman was blunt in advising us to sell private. He said that they would offer bottom book prices.

    Try Cargiant too.
Don't bother with auctions, unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Cargiant, trade sales etc will buy cars from the auction and put a couple of hundered onto the price, advantage is you have lots of backup if anything goes wrong.

You can buy from British Car auctions, but you dont have to go through the auction and you can also buy a warranty. So if you know what car you are looking for, you ring them up and they will tell you if they have it and who is selling it and all the other details and how much they want.

I got my current car from Trade Sales and my previous one from Motorpoint, delivery mileage only and I was happy with both cars and dealers.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Very useful !!!
Has anyone part-exchanged their car when doing a deal there at all?
Do they offer a decent amount does anyone know? Or is it best to just do the whole cash thing?
    Thanks!
We bought our car from there, really pleased, they service it for you, as you dont pick it up for a couple of days. We part exchanged our car Audi, was offered £800 from a dealers but TS gave us £1200, and we kept the car tax - it helps if your car is mot'd for a while. The £250 extra for making the car shine you can do yourself with Auto Glyn and the Guarantee to get the full worth of the car back via insurance is cheaper online. Good luck with your purchase, we will always use them, they have been going for years. I think they make their money on the finance deals - find your own.
