My mum has recently come out of hospital. She has COPD and it had worsened.
Since she's been out, she's had a carer come in, in the morning to help her wash and get breakfast. The carer is being paid for until next week, after that, she said she was told that if she still wants a carer, she has to pay.
As she's receiving pension credit, is this the case? She's in England btw.

Every local authority sets their own charging policy. However there are basic requirements that they have to follow.
Have a read of this

Without knowing all the financial details it is difficult to comment further.
Your mum should have had an assessment of her 'means'. Has this been carried out?
You really need to contact adult social services in your mum's authority and find out what is going on.
Your mum may have misunderstood or doesn't like the Carers and has made it up! ( sorry, but my mum would do this)
Your mum may be entitled to Personal Independence Payment (if under 65) or Attendance Allowance if over 65. Google for more information.0 -
Thanks for that link, I'll have a read of that in a minute. She does already get Attendance Allowance.
I'll have a look on her council's website too.0
