Redundancy mess

In late March my office were given notice for redundancy. The term is three months so our scheduled end date was end of June.

Last week we started getting worried after getting phone calls from services asking why Direct Debits had been cancelled and alarm bells were ringing.

So on Friday we literally had to corner our boss to ask him what's going on. He claimed there might be a slight risk to our redundancy settlement.

Yesterday (Tuesday), he informed us that he was unable to pay redundancy and that we would cease trading on 23rd May ahead of liquidation, having to go to the government to get the money owed to us.

This morning we were called in to a meeting where he said he had arranged a loan and that we would be paid our redundancy as long as we left on 23rd May and we forego our owed holiday money. This would enable the company to continue trading.

So essentially I personally have been told to give up 10 days of paid holiday I have still yet to take (2 full working weeks) and five weeks of my notice wages.

The boss has since said to another employee that he'll liquidate the company if we don't agree and that the responsibility lies on their shoulders.

Aside from the bullying/blackmail, am I right in thinking the RPC will pay the redundancy, 5 weeks notice left and my owed holiday money? I have been working here more than 7 years. We're not on a special redundancy scheme so were only getting statutory.

It's unbelievable how this process had gone. Until last week it seemed fine but has done a complete u-turn this week and my boss is seemingly making it up as he goes along, as if he has a view that certain laws shouldn't apply to him.

PS - I study a degree part-time. My first exam is ... 23rd May. My university have suggested I defer to September considering my circumstances.
