What's Gingerbreads Morons? Do as i say and not as i do type of thing?

Its not due til the end of the month. But reminds me we have to keep on our toes and not be lazy i guess.

Not being lazy is a full time accupation for me. I have an excuse today the sun is shining. :)

But even if I did forget - I should receive a notification of renewal right?

And if I went to the FOS - it would just be their word against mine ?

Would it have been better to be paying for your car to be released from impound, paying a fine etc?

    Ignore this OP.

Some people just enjoy scaremongering on the forum.

You are perfectly entitled to pursue your complaint about this, and there has never been any chance you could be fined or your car impounded over this issue.

You can get your car impounded for not having breakdown cover?

There's a 14 day cooling off period from when you either get your docs or when the policy starts which ever is later.
As you paid by cc I'm assuming that you had a partial refund? On supplying proof of insurance elsewhere or dual insirance it can be backdated the cancelation and a further refund applied.
From the outcomes I have read on the fos website they believe insurers that there system of sending letters works as they have a way of viewing letters sent. So it appears there only when sent.
Obviously occasionally post is lost or mis directed and goes missing which is quite a reasonable assumption or of course you have junk mailed it before taking it into account.
You also should have some idea of roughly when insurances are due for renewal so you could have chased it up and got it re issued.

Why complain? If you are able to prove dual insurance you can get your money back if not then you can chalk it up to experience

How do you see the op has got a partial refund by using his credit card?

In fact the premium is not being refunded at all, hence the reason for the thread

Proving dual cover looks hard as there is no mention of another policy being in place

A complaint is the op's only option!

Can everyone please concentrate on the fact that it was auto renewal of AA breakdown cover and NOT insurance!
