  • How do we know & the op for that matter that if he went back to the Liverpool branch that they wouldn't refund it like they said they would? Policy isn't relevant here as some stores might use discretion.

Some people are missing the point here...

The OP was told they could have a full refund if the other phone turned up. Had they told the OP that no, the policy is no refunds, then the OP would probably not have bought the phone.

No we arent missing the point, we are pointing out that the statutory rights arent for a refund and the SOGA doesnt cover this situation.

As others have already said there is a contractual issue of what the sales guy said but the issue with verbal contracts is evidencing them. The advice was for the OP to go back to the store/company in question and speak to them about what the sales guy had said.

In that case I'd recommend everyone with an Android device installs AVG Mobilation app which will allow you to lock/wipe or wake up your android phone (even if its on silent) or locate it (based on wireless and gps)

Findmy iPhonee does the same job for iPhones

Always losing my phone in the house and always have it on silent, this really helps

Is this different to Samsungs offering? In that I don't keep my phones wifi/3g on by default and I know a lot of folks who don't leave their internet on all the time, the ability to lock your phone, trace it, make it ring etc, actually relies on your phone having an internet connection, and obviously can't remotely turn your phones wifi on to achieve this if you had your internet off at the time. Guess folks use snapchat and that these days and always have wifi/3g on and are in range of a network until me haha.

Samsung phones are typically Android so covered by the posts comment on that.

Why do you turn 3G off? I know a few people who turn wifi off to conserve battery or to avoid log in screens from random connections to TheCloud etc. Never heard of anyone that turns off 3G and other mobile based connections.

I turn mobile data off pretty much all the time as I found that I was exceeding my monthly data bundle and being charged a small fortune. I only switch it on when I need to use it.

I only turn on the 3G when I need it, which isn't very often. As does my wife.

I have mine set to WiFi only as I have no idea how much data allowance I have on my very old contract. It just says internet - yes!!
