Vauxhall Astra service cost

Not sure if anyone willl have any ideas on this, but one of my friends has just asked me and I'm not sure of the answer so it got me thinking.

They've just had their 59-plate Vauxhall Astra serviced at a garage they haven't used before (in a new city, but included in the Good Garage Scheme). They have had a full service, MOT, brake fluid change and wheel geometry test and adjutsment done (the car was pulling to the right). The bill total bill came to £300 plus VAT.

Does that sound a fair price? It's the first time they've used this garage and had this car serviced (they've had it a year) so they were a bit unsure!

I don't think that's bad really. I had the same done on a car about five years ago, the only thing extra was that I had some of the brake pipes replaced and I think I paid just over £400 so it seems pretty good.

I guess it depends on their definition of a full service, but at first glance for all that, £300 sounds fine :)

They could have taken it to a fast fit place and paid £99 for a service.

But all they would have got is an oil change and a list of serious defects that need fixing right now. And a sob story that they may die on the journey home if they dont get them done right now.

Not a ripoff price if they did a proper service.

From the sounds of it it seems a pretty thorough service, definitely better than a fast fit centre anyway!

Will pass on the opinions, thanks all!
