Hi all here,
I'm worried to death now. I have a child tax credit overpayment. My case is in appeal but during checking my paperwork I realised, that there is another CTC overpayment (for different tax year). It came at the same time. I thought I'm sorting it all together but did not realise, they don't! They sort every tax year separatelly sad Now I found a letter from HMRC debt managing team dated back January 2013 asking for payment or they will use debt collection agency...I did not hear anything from then since this letter...I sent them letter about 3 weeks ago asking about this overpayment and what to do now but I'm so worried what they will reply as it is over a year now! Can anyone help? I can't phone the helpline as I'm abroad and don't have enough money so I have to wait for the letter. I have a sleepless nights that they will charge me some huge fees or so even though on the letter it says there is no fee until payment...Has enyone any experience please? I'm so stressed now.

I never received CTC - well I hope so  as I applied before I got the number and then I moved abroad...I checked my account for several months after my move and did not get any money from HMRC....
It's all so confusing...:huh:0 -

So is it your partner that has the CTC overpayment ?
Is it you or your partner that's moved abroad ?0 -

Were you together during the tax years that the overpayments occurred?

I know I make it sound very comlpicated...anyway, we now know about the overpayment and all I'm looking for now is anyones experience with this...Now I found a letter from HMRC debt managing team dated back January 2013 asking for payment or they will use debt collection agency...I did not hear anything from then since this letter...I sent them letter about 3 weeks ago asking about this overpayment and what to do now but I'm so worried what they will reply as it is over a year now!
I'm worried about what they will reply....If you understand me...It is just stressfull to wait for the response I do not sort the problem with overpayment as blondebubbles explained everything before.0 -
Well if all you want to do is repay the debt, ring HMRC and set up a time to pay arrangement to make monthly payments to clear the debt.
If you haven't had any letters chances are they haven't passed it to a collection agency.
