12 month guarantee?

Hello all.
7 months ago I bought a pair of Caterpillar boots from Amazon. The boots came from Debenhams.
The boots have began to let in water. I went through Amazon regarding getting them replaced. They forwarded onto Debenhams who have rejected my request for replacements due to the length of time I have had the boots (7 months). They have offered me 10% off any future purchase as a good will gesture.
Where do I stand in relation to 12 month guarantees? Isn't 7 months a bit of a short time for the boots to fail. My previous boots lasted 5 years?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

As they are over 6 months old its up to you to prove that the boots are faulty and this isnt either natural wear & tear or a result of miss use.
If its worth the hassle of trying to find a relevant expert to do a report is another matter.
Of cause you can just follow things up with Debenhams directly and go down the normal complaints type route rather than statutory rights etc0 -

As above, it'll be up to you to prove that they are inherently faulty. Personally I'd just take what's on offer and move on. This is a case of picking your battles and this one probably isn't worth the hassle.0 -
Thank you. I'll take their good will offer and move on.0
