just got off the phone to Halifax as I didn't understand why an credit account I paid off and closed over 6 yrs ago was showing up in my online account. finally got round to calling and they admitting I had overpaid by £30.
As the penny dropped I started asking about my interest, he asked me if I would accept another £5 which I refused as I said I wanted to take it further.
I asked him to stop the transfer to my other bank account but he said it was too late. money not showing in account yet
I'm not greedy at but know if the shoe was on the other foot, the bank would hound charge me 6 years worth of interest which they have benefited from.
What would be my next move?
Thanks in advance

Accept the £35 and move on with your life.
Any extra interest you might get will be pennies. Is it really worth it? In any case, the terms of your credit account will have stated they do not pay in-credit interest. So you're due nothing.0 -
I'd have taken the extra £5, before they realise you're just trying it on.0

Unless they are somehow to blame for you paying in to much I don't see why you think they owe you anything but the £30?0

Ever since the financial crisis of 2008, interest rates have been extremely low. In your opinion, much interest would a deposit of £30.00 (not quite a princely sum) have accumulated over the last six years? - No more than 50 pence, if your lucky.
So take the 5 quid and run!0 -
At 3% compounded - they owe you a fiver.0

Take the £5.Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0

I'm with everyone else, take the £5.
£30 in a savings account at 1.5% for 6 years would've netted you under £3 profit. Consider it a well paid investment.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Why not make a supreme gesture and donate the lot to charity?
You have not missed it, did not expect it so you did not budget to receive it - you will feel great afterwards - promise.0
