poorly damson :(
Damson is in it's second spring with me (4ish years old) and was very happy last year, this spring it got it's first 4 blossoms - none of which set but great progress, however in the last week or so it has started to look very sorry for itself: leaves are dying off, from the outside edge of the leaf working inwards, fairly randomly along the branches (and sometimes only one in a leaf clump), it has comparatively few leaves with the majority of leaf buds yet to commence growing.
The leaves aren't discolouring first, no spots/rust, holes or curl, there's no sign that I can see of critters of any kind, I don't think it's mildew, the soil is neither dry nor waterlogged, I haven't pruned yet this year, and the branches appear OK (no canker or wounds...)
I guess it could be silver leaf but I've never had it so don't know how to identify (google images isn't helping much!)
we've had no frosts, but have had really high winds whipping it about - could that be the cause? I can't think of anything to do except remove the damaged leaves, mulch and feed?
any other ideas? (plums are a new venture for me...)
