Hotpoint Warranty Transferrable?

I'm considering buying a Hotpoint washing machine that has been opened by not used/installed. However the owner has already registered the 1 year warranty a couple of months ago.
Does anyone know if the remaining warranty can be transferred to a new name and address?

  • It should come with a 5 year parts guarantee as well I think.

The 5 year parts warranty is a con, as the parts are only 'free' if fitted by a Hotpoint engineer. And of course the labour charge levied more than makes up for the parts cost. I'm not worried about the five year cover, just the remainder of the 12m, which is when things tend to go wrong with white goods, if they're going to.

  • That's very true.

I'm in the very fortunate position that I've never had any appliance break until I've had it at least 12 years, often longer, but I'm sure it'd be sods law that the one time I didn't have a 12 month warranty something would go wrong! :D
