    At your budget level you are looking at second hand entry level DSLR's at best. Probably best to use a decent compact for the time being and save for something more suitable to your needs.

    One thing to note is that the camera body is not the most important part of the setup, the user is and after that the glass is most important and good lenses don't come cheap.

    I've got a 10D. It's pretty old now but it takes lovely photos. If you want to improve your photography it's good to get something with direct buttons for the controls so you can operate them all without taking your eye from the viewfinder.
