I don't want to be top of "BOTH" I dont want to be top of best match at all. I don't think its should be the default search result. That is my gripe. I have no way of competing with these sellers despite offering what they are offering on the very same platform only cheaper.

This is a perfect explanation, I listed my item 2 days ago the "best match" top result has sold 4, the guy below him has sold 2 (he is cheaper than the top guy) then both of them have several quantities of the item X2, X5 etc then there is me, 8th on the list with the same listing as the top guy, cheaper than both and I don't even have one look. I kid you not, not even one look! How do I compete?

Under the current TRS scheme it is remarkably easy to qualify , I am a tiny seller yet have been PS or TRS now for many years- easily. Can't you see which areas you need to increase and concentrate on them to get TRS and then comply with the requirements to offer a premium service? Even a standard TRS gets 15% discount in their premium listing FVFs.

I would recommend fining a way to add value to your product rather than trying to under cut. This might mean finding a unique selling point or adding or modifying or finding alternative uses for your product.

What you have done, is set up a "race to bottom", otherwise known as "school boy error", as each seller undercuts the other by a few pennies.

I was under the impression that that was how the world worked in business. I have no business experience or sales experience outside of ebay by the way. As for adding value, I don't see how I can. Im offering the item cheaper than anybody else surely that is value enough? I mean who willingly pays more for an item than they have too?

I just want to add that I'm not being sarcastic or anything of the sort. I genuinely have very little business experience, which is probably obvious for all to see.

I don't think I have a chance to become a power seller, none of the others are power sellers or TRS by the way, they just have the Premium service badge. Which I would need 29 more sales to get I think. I guess I could "cheat" and get those sales but that doesn't sit right with me.

You can't get the premium badge without being a TRS

Just to complete the picture requirements to be a PS are here

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/sell-powersellers.html

Apart from the good standing which you imply you already fulfil you only need £1000 sales a year

Have a minimum of sales volume of £1,000 per 12 months (based on sales to UK and IE buyers)

Well, lol, not many people on moneysavingexpert.com! However, it's clear that many sellers who are the cheapest are in outer Mongolia, and you have to wait up to a month for your item, so there's one example, and by just generally looking at sellers feedback (even ones in the UK) you can see that those going for cheapest price can't seem to either a. maintain good monitoring on their stock levels and often let customers down, or b. simply cannot operate with peaks and troughs in demand, such as happens each and every week due to the weekend.

So, in this vein, a unique selling point, could be that your item is always in stock and supplied same day. That's without me knowing what the item is or applying any imagination.

I never use best match. I list by price lowest or time ending soonest.

If listing by price I skip all the 99p ones and jump right to what I think the item is worth.

I really hate trawling through listings that have low prices and you have to go into them and find all your getting for that price is a battery or a case.
