Pick-Up New Car tonight, Current Car brakes started Grinding Last Night
Hi,
Pick up new car today, however I noticed just last night that the brakes are making a grinding noise which points me to the brake pads. I did know from my recent service that the brakes would need to be replaced soon.
The car was was valued last month by the dealer (although I have switched to the same dealer, but at a different branch). They used the trade-in value from the previous check.
I'm just wondering if this will have any affect on my collection now of the new car? I did have to wait a bit longer than I had thought (couple of weeks).
I've been told by a friend that I should not worry as the car dealer will have to go over the car anyway with a fine tooth comb before deciding what to do with it, and knowing that some sort of work is going to be required, as long as the engine isn't ready to fault apart (which it ain't, lol).

Probably not an issue.
Their profit on you will cover pads!0 -
They'll just whip in a set of cheapo pads. Total cost to the garage of about a tenner.
Nothing for you to worry about at all. They probably wouldn't even notice anyway until after you've left their place in your new car."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

If you wanted to cover yourself i would say to the salesman that the front brakes have got a bit noisy over the last couple of days.
Word it like that in a non commital way. Then you've told them about it.
Most likely just pads.
You could just keep your head down and say nothing but personally i'd say.0 -
Yeah, I'll maybe wait and say if he asks how car is, and I'll tell him.
