The Juke is available with a reversing camera
If it were me I would be looking to see if i could retro fit that.
Im guessing a switch to add a feed/ground to make it think you were in reverse would keep it active

That wouldn't be on the caravan, though.

I thought as they wanted it on all the time it was for the hitch?
I see rereading it,its in place of the rear view via the caravan.
Would really depend on the feeds to the OE head unit. Might still be easier using an OE camera to feed to the head unit

Thanks for all the interesting replies. The Juke has a reversing camera and I tried the extension mirrors but they are not that good, vibrate and restricted view of what is close behind, have seen cyclists slipstreaming in the past, lots to think about.

Probably a small caravan anyway. The jukes max tow isnt that great.

Seen a few unhappy people thinking they can tow anything with one. Its a 4x4 innit.
Its a Nissan Micra with big fat wheels and tyres.

^^ Yeah a lot of people seem to "forget" that. The Juke has become the latest "crossover" for the wannabe middle classes to drive around like a tank, pushing their way through traffic, running reds, driving down bus lanes and generally driving like utter to55ers.

I don't know the Juke but, given the level of electronic integration in cars now I'd tread carefully trying to adapt the existing camera for the new use by "earthing a wire" as it might well be that you'll end up with reversing lights on all the time (or a fried ecu)

Is the standard reversing camera screen also used for anything else? sat nav? radio control?

Think I'd be tempted to go stand alone add on wireless with a screen that clips on the mirror

There's some information here which suggests it is legal (second part of this document)

    http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200405/cmhansrd/vo050317/text/50317w03.htm
    The actual law is here

    http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1986/1078/regulation/109/made

"to assist the driver to see the road adjacent to the vehicle" seems to cover it. It doesn't say it's only allowed to be on while he's driving toward that particular bit of road.

Yea, rekon I will go for a wired stand alone system, the reversing camera screen is also the sat nav and radio.
My wife chose the Juke as our only car and needed something comfortable for her as she has had major back surgery and finds some cars, with normal driving position leave her in a lot of pain after a journey of more than 30 mins.
It is not a crossover, just a slightly different dare I say funky car. We have the 1.6 petrol, 2 wheel drive. It brings a smile to her face when driving and that is something she used to get when driving her Smart For2 many years ago, Oh and the old Saab 900 turbo!
Our last few cars, family sensible ones, certainly worked well but missed the fun factor.
Oh I am used to towing, even had an HGV license in Canada many years ago.
