I'm proud to say I've never done it. Being only 5"2 also makes it difficult to peek inside a skip. LOL!

    Hi All,

A few years back we had a skip for when we moved house.

One afternoon a Microwave appeared in it, no idea who left it - Next morning someone else had removed it from the skip! lol

    Cheers

    Hey everyone!

I am currently on a TV journalist training scheme in London and we are working on a story related to the credit crunch. We thought that looking at skip diving would be an interesting perspective. While doing my research I came across this discussion you have started here and I found it very interesting..

I was wondering whether anyone from London ( unfortunately we had to focus on a specific area..) has found anything interesting in a skip, or has made any profit from skip diving, and if in general you think that skip diving can be considered as a way for some to help them through the recession..

I would really appreciate your help.. anyone who wants to have a chat about this and has an interesting story, I would be really willing to hear it! Also any ideas would be great from all of you!

    thnx guysxx

Hi, If you dont get no joy from the people on here try some of the skip firms because My partner used to work in one and they all used to sell their finds in bootsales making loads of money My partner is more of a hoarder and kept most of what he retrieved from a skip,
His best find was a shop skip that come in with brand new curtains and bedding, The shop had had a fire so the packages were smoke damaged but my friends and family all had some lovely bedding set's and curtains for pressies that year!
Unfortuantly we are in south wales so can't help you but I imagine the boys who work at the skip depot's around london supplement their incomes in the same way!:T

    Hi all

After watching the great british waste menu , i felt really shocked and quite upset at the amount of waste, especially when for a lot of us who meal plan etc find it hard to make the pennies stretch.

I am seriosly thinking of trying "bin diving" at my local co-op tesco express and other small shops, Have any of you tried it ? and if so what where your experiences ?

Bump. Wonder if folk still do this? Security seems pretty tight nowadays.
