We have been told we have booked the wrong holiday!

Options
We booked our holiday over the phone direct. We paid £400 for a chalet with a hot tub and in July. (we thought what a bargain!) We have had no confirmation details so we phoned only to be told that we have booked a caravan in September. We relayed the conversation we had with the lady who has now apparently left (or sacked you would wonder) we told him at no point had she mentioned that she couldn't book it at that time as the chalet prices were not available. (This was last September)

He is now going to find the tapes of the conversation of that day and come back to us. When he does, how do we know he is telling the truth and can we request a copy of the script? Surely its in his interest by £300 to lie and say the saleswoman had done no wrong?

Yes you can request a copy (google subject access request).

Why not give them the benefit of the doubt and wait to say what they say first? I know you may be dubious but I know at least some travel agents will own up to their employees mistakes.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
