Planting 'Summer Bulbs'

I have a very delayed order of summer bulbs coming from T&M after various complaints (separate thread).

I may not be about to plant then until early June....what do the panel think? Is it still OK to plant them this late, will it harm, may they still come up etc?

Probably not much choice really, but worth an ask!

PS...live on South Coast, if relevant.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm not one for bulb planting myself, but my mom puts bulbs in and she lives quite far north where there's snow cover well into May - I don't think she ever plants anything out until mid-June. Her garden is lovely so I don't think it does much harm.

What exactly are these bulbs? Some of the plants classified as summer bulbs tend to need a long growing season (ie started off indoors before they're put out once it's warm enough). If they only arrive in June it may be too late for them to do their thing fully this year.

You could stick them in and hope they do something next year

Oh yes, definitely worth doing. I'm thinking of something like cannas.

I am just about to plant some dahlia tubers out in a prepared bed, and I have been doing this over the past month. I now have dahlias in various stages of growth.
My gladiolus bulbs were planted three weeks ago, and they have definitely poked their heads through the top soil.
I reckon you ought to be OK until the beginning of June, because our weather conditions are very mild nowadays.

    Bulb collection is as follows

It's pretty much a 'border in a box'! These bright and colourful summer bulbs are easy to grow and provide a succession of colour, from June through to October. A superb value mix, grow this versatile Summer Bulb Collection in beds, borders and containers and enjoy their striking flowers all summer long. Mixture contains Begonias, Freesias, Liatris, Lilies, Gladioli and Dahlias. Height: up to 150cm (59"). Spread: up to 45cm (18").

T&M have now promised to try to get them out asap, and so hopefully all should just about be ok.

Tell you what though, will be shopping around more next year....any recommendations for similar companies?
