Incorrect final bill
I posted this question on LandlordZone and thought I'd also try here. We moved into a new property in March and I am pretty sure the opening meter reading (given to Eon by the landlord) was wrong, but since we didn't take our own reading I can't prove it.
We switched supplier to EbiCo as soon as we moved and it took them three weeks to take over the supply and provide Eon with a closing meter reading. Based on the two readings Eon received (first from landlord and second from EbiCo) they are charging us £90 for gas and £11 for electric for a three week period. The electric is in line with our usage (about £15 a month in our old house, which is of a similar size) but the gas is totally out (also £10-15 a month).
Eon are saying there's nothing they can do since it's based on actual readings.
I do understand that I should have taken my own readings but considering I didn't, is there anything I can do despite suck it up and pay the £106 (including VAT) for three weeks?

Nothing, nothing at all.

Afternoon AppleChai
I've seen a bit of this lately.
It's so hard because we don't have anything to dispute the start reading with. As it has been taken by the landlord and provided to us, we'll use this for billing.
We can't change a read when we don't have anything to change it with, if you see what I mean.
Are the final reads correct on your final bill from us? Are they the same as the ones EbiCo have opened your new account to?
We may be able to set up an arrangement to pay off the final balance if this may help.
